Thelma Barlow, best known for her role as Mavis on Coronation Street, made the come back to star in Sleepless in Settle, at the age of 95.
The film tells the story of a woman trying to find a wife for her son and was especially written for the Coronation Street icon. Actress Judy Flynn, who wrote and directed the film, worked with Thelma Barlow on the Victoria Wood sitcom Dinnerladies. “We met again at her 90th birthday party and I asked if I could write something specifically for her and she agreed. Judy Flynn describes working with Thelma Barlow as “a total joy.”
Judy Flynn premiered the film in Rye, where the film was shot and is hoping it will soon be available to see at festivals across the UK.
